We’re into the middle of November, and that means it’s time to start thinking about next month’s seasonal festivities. This is why it was that we found ourselves spending Sunday travelling to The Netherlands for the first annual visit of Sinterklaas.

We have photos.

It seems to be an annual event that our internet, TV and telephone provider invites their customers to a free day out in Plopsa Hasselt. They probably invite other customers to other locations, but Hasselt is the closest to us and, therefore, where we find ourselves the weekend before Halloween.

Of course I took a camera.

I realised a few days ago that today is Darwin Day and it occured to me that this would be a good excuse to find a sciency type gift for Macsen. Unfortunately, this is something I completely failed to achieve. What we did achieve, though, is a stonegrill at the Luihoeve.

I have finally retrieved all of the photos from my work phone, which means that I now have a collection of photos from all three recent encounters with Sinter Klaas.

As already mentioned, we were in The Netherlands on the 14th for the first arrival of Sinter Klaas. And here are the photos to prove it.

I’m not entirely sure what the twins made of it all.

The Maereholt restaurant in Meerhout has a large terrace looking out over a massive childrens’ play area. August, therefore, seemed a good idea to start getting the twins used to eating out.

Antwerp Zoo

It’s been a couple of months since I looked at what was on my camera, but I have finally gotten around to copying the photos to my PC and sorting them into folders. This, then, will probably turn out to be the first of several posts as I go through by backlog of snaps.

And where better to start with the trip we took to Antwerp zoo back in February, where Macsen discovered he had a real talent for stamping train tickets.
